1. We have an incredible graphic design team at Ashley Press. Their knowledge and expertise, partnered with our complimentary print proofing system delivers a seamless service to our customers whether they are based in our locality of Poole, Dorset or within the U.K or internationally.

But, we appreciate that there are customers who don't want to budget for graphic design or who simply enjoy designing their artwork themselves.

We accept a variety of formats, but this article is focussing on one of the most popular design tools, Canva.

As we mentioned in our recent social media post, Canva was born in 2013 as a modest Australian startup, set out with a bold premise: anyone should be able to design anything.  Overnight, visual communication changed forever.
Today, that vision has turned into a massive phenomenon with over 260 million monthly active users spanning more than 190 countries. A prominent feature in colleges and universities, the future workforce are competent in its use and design creativity is limitless.  A generation of social media influencers are using it for their posts and sharing their tips and tools. Canva is not going anywhere, anytime soon.

From a print industry perspective Canva is bittersweet tool. It allows our customers to provide us with their own artwork, with what should be a simplified process, but this isn't always the case. On occasion we are provided with artwork that is not 'print ready' and this significantly reduces the quality of the end product. It takes just a moment to do, but can make a significant difference in the time it takes for your print to hit the press.

So what do we mean by print ready?

In order to achieve the best quality end result we need your Canva file to be supplied as a PDF print with sufficient crop marks and bleed and in a CMYK colour profile (all these terms can be explained on our Glossary page). Our brilliant Graphic Designer,Sam has created a step by step guide to support you through the process and this can be located on our Artwork page with a number of other free resources designed to give you all the tools you need to provide us with the perfect job.

We are always at hand to answer any questions you may have, so please contact us for further information.
